Now that I'm older I seem to be breaking out more. I thought you were supposed to have your acne issues during puberty. I seem to break out in the worst places too. The other day, I started getting this big pimple right between the middle of my eyes, prompting my coworker to ask if I was transforming into a unicorn.
Seems like I always break out anywhere up and down the middle of my face. It's weird. Maybe my pimples think it would be unfair to my face to stay just on the left or right side of my face so it chooses the middle.
Anyways, what seems to really be helping me is toner that I've added to my usual skincare routine. Currently I'm using Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Dual Action toner. Now I wash my face, use toner, then use a moisturizer. You'd be amazed how dirty that cotton ball is when you use toner after washing your face. Don't judge until you've tried it. Makes me wonder what I'm actually doing when I wash my face.
The other product that is helping me out a lot is Mario Badescu drying lotion. You apply this on your pimples when you know you won't be going out because it's definitely not clear. The lotion kind of reminds me of calamine lotion and has a slight but bearable scent. I usually apply it before I go to bed and I always notice a difference the next day. The only con is the price. It's $17.00 for a 1 oz. bottle. This 1 oz bottle has lasted me (and my boyfriend, but you didn't hear that from me) for 3 months so not too shabby even if the quantity is small. I don't see having to buy another bottle anytime soon either.
I started using St. Ives Elements Microdermabrasion face soap. I was a big fan of the original St. Ives Invigorating Apricot scrub so I figured newer is better right? Incorrect. I prefer the original Apricot scrub. The Apricot scrub was a bit rougher but, I liked that because it seemed to get my face cleaner and softer. The Microdermabrasion face soap has "fine mineral crystals". The fine mineral crystals are a little too fine though. They somehow get into my eyes even when they're closed and my face doesn't seem as soft after. Lesson for the day folks - newer is not always better.
Ehhhh?? Oooohhh!!!

Wow, i really cant relate
Man, this whole year I've been breaking out WAY more than usual. It really sucks!
I've heard good things about that MB drying lotion. I might try it one day. Right now I'm trying not to add to many new things to my routine. I think that's another reason I broke out so much, lol.
jjavier: I know you can relate. You're the pro when it comes to the MB drying lotion.
Janelle: I have sensitive skin and eczema. The MB drying lotion doesn't irritate my skin. Since you said you hate shipping costs on your blog, they have some MB products at Nordstrom. That's where I got the drying lotion.
I saw in you comment that you have eczema. I'm in college and still have a fair bout of acne and I'm worried I might keep it because my mom has adult acne and my father had a lot of acne as a teenager. Not fair
Anyhoo, you should give proactive a try. I use the whole system. It's really great and I've never had any problems with it aggravating my severe eczema
Laura Lee: Thanks for the tip. I may have to try Proactive if my breakouts get worse.
The cold weather made me break out a bit too, but I've tweaked my skincare routine to accommodate for the dry/oily skin combo I've been sporting lately. I just had to experiment around a bit to find the right products.
I'm a big fan of St. Ives' Apricot scrub too...you should try the Mineral Clay Firming mask. I have a post I've been meaning to put up about skincare, but I've never published it. I'll get around to finalizing it sometime soon...
PS. I have the MB drying lotion too, but I hate using it because of the smell!
Check my blog! I tagged you! :)
I've purchased MB from Nordstrom's before. I wonder if they give out samples of the drying lotion. Hmm..
Janelle: I know I got samples of the drying cream before but not the drying lotion. I don't really like the drying cream that much.
that reminds me, i need to get more toner! i've been using my sample of mario badescu's drying cream for months!
MakeupbyRenRen: I have a bunch of Mario Badescu samples but, I haven't used them all up yet. I was surprised at how big the samples were.
ha, i got a huge pimple in the middle of my eyebrowsthe other day. it looked like a had a unibrow. thanks for the tip.
Chelle: Yup those pimples suck. They're more obvious than the other type of pimples. That MB drying lotion really makes pimples disappear quick.
